Pointing to laws passed since 2020 in about two dozen U.S. states that it says restrict voting rights and “showcases … anti-democratic impulses,” the New York State Bar Association has put forward six major recommendations for New York state aimed at improving faith and trust in the state’s election process.
The recommendations range from “professionalizing” hiring and training for election board officers to establishing an officer code of conduct and an elections inspector general position.
