Two Midsize Toronto Business Law Firms Combine in Latest Merger in Canada

Midsize Toronto-area law firm Loopstra Nixon is merging with commercial lending firm Macdonald Sager in one of the biggest law firm tie-ups in the city over the past decade.

The new 103-lawyer firm will continue under the Loopstra Nixon banner. The addition of Macdonald’s 20-lawyer commercial lending team will provide a stronger presence in Toronto’s financial district for the 50-year-old Loopstra, which is primarily based in the suburbs.
