The New York-based Mellon Foundation, a huge funder of arts and humanities initiatives, appointed Sheree Carter-Galvan as general counsel.

Carter-Galvan has nearly three decades of legal experience, the last 16 in-house. She comes from the American Museum of Natural History, where she was general counsel. Before that, she spent 12 years at Yale University, where she rose to senior associate general counsel. She started her career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where she spent almost a decade.
