The New Jersey State Bar Association has been battling in court over race discrimination claims by its former assistant general counsel and director of diversity initiatives.
Denise Sharperson claims in the suit that she, as the only Black attorney working for the association, was paid far less than others holding comparable positions. The suit was filed in August 2019 in Middlesex County, New Jersey, Superior Court and is currently in discovery.
