Practice Profile: Anisha Dasgupta represents the State of New York before federal and state appellate courts and counsels the Attorney General on trial litigation and legislation. Her experience includes matters of constitutional law, national security, intellectual property, antitrust, international trade, immigration, consumer protection, healthcare regulation, and environmental regulation. She has argued before eight federal circuit courts and the New York Court of Appeals, including in two of the New York Law Journal’s top six Court of Appeals cases of 2017. She regularly briefs cases before the U.S Supreme Court.

Leadership, Pro Bono and Civic Work: As Deputy Solicitor General, Anisha co-leads an office of 16 appellate attorneys and works with Attorneys General across the country on multistate litigation. During the last year, Anisha has helped to lead multistate coalitions challenging a variety of federal government actions, including restrictions on entry to the United States from several Muslim-majority nations (the “Travel Ban”) and the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. While at the U.S. Department of Justice, she received the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service – the Department’s highest award – for her work on the defense of the Affordable Care Act.
