The recruits training now at a facility in Brooklyn to be New York’s next generation of court officers come from a wide range of professional backgrounds.
To be sure, a substantial portion of the recruits now at the Office of Court Administration’s Court Officer’s Academy—a class of 267, the largest in the academy’s history—come from law enforcement and security positions, or have experience as emergency medical technicians for the Fire Department of New York.
