Texas urged the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to let the state’s new immigration law take effect this week and allow Texas police to begin arresting—and in some cases deporting—unauthorized immigrants.
Last week, U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar asked the justices to reinstate a court order that would block Texas officials from enforcing its new law, SB4, which Gov. Greg Abbott signed in December.
