The Biden administration has returned to the U.S. Supreme Court in another immigration dispute with Texas, this time seeking a court order blocking the state’s new aggressive law making illegal border crossings a state crime.

U.S. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar took the bold step Monday afternoon of asking the justices to enjoin Texas officials from enforcing its new law, SB4. The administration had obtained an earlier injunction against the law after suing Texas in federal district court, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said it will soon let the law go into effect unless the high court says otherwise.
