The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled in favor of an immigrant fighting his deportation back to Trinidad and Tobago, holding in an unusual 6-3 lineup that courts can review certain determinations by immigration judges.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote the majority opinion  in Wilkinson v. Garland, siding with Trinidadian Situ Kamu Wilkinson on a legal question that could prove key to his ability to remain in the United States after police found drugs in a house where he was working on repairs.
