A dispute between a car dealership and an indemnity insurer will be up for consideration before the Georgia Court of Appeals on Feb. 14 to determine whether a nonlawyer’s interpretation of the insurance policy is enough for the dealership to get coverage for a loss.

Gerald Jones Ford, a car dealership in Augusta sold a vehicle that the purchaser totaled three days later in an out-of-state accident when the purchaser was fleeing from the police. The purchaser then defaulted on the loan and the dealership tried to recover under their insurance policy under plaintiff-appellant, General Security Indemnity Company of Arizona, for damage to the vehicle.
