Average gross revenues at Florida law firms are still outpacing national trends, but average expenses at these firms are also surpassing national figures, according to a nationwide survey studying the health of the legal industry in the first half of 2023.

Gross revenue climbed by 4.4% nationally for law firms, while Florida’s firms grew revenue by 6.2%, the highest of any region singled out in a new mid-year survey conducted by the Wells Fargo Legal Specialty Group. But with Florida law firms also seeing the highest headcount increases during a time when law firms are already bloated with talent, the Sunshine State also saw the biggest expenses by far.
