A coalition of attorneys general from 38 states and the District of Columbia announced Thursday that several defendants have agreed to stop a massive robocall operation that pretended to collect more than $110 million for charities that support veterans, children, firefighters and other causes.

Attorneys general from Connecticut, New York, California, Texas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania were among those who signed the agreement. They said defendants made about 1.3 billion deceptive fundraising calls to about 67 million consumers.
