Amid the mad dash to catch up to its rivals in AI, Amazon pressured an artificial intelligence researcher to quit after she disclosed her pregnancy and then fired her while her pregnancy discrimination and retaliation claims were pending, according to a lawsuit filed this week against the tech giant in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Viviane Ghaderi, who was responsible for spotting violations of Amazon’s internal copyright policies and bringing them to its legal department, also claims she was told by Amazon’s director of web Information services and structured knowledge to ignore the policies and applicable copyright laws to keep pace with the company’s competitors.
