After just one year at Boies, Schiller & Flexner, litigator David Bernick is set to join Dechert in New York on Monday. Bernick joined Boies Schiller as a partner last August from his position as senior vice president and general counsel of Philip Morris International.

Bernick said Friday that while he has the "utmost respect" for Boies Schiller and its chairman, David Boies, it became quickly apparent after joining that the plaintiffs side of the firm's practice presented too many conflicts preventing him from representing a number of clients. "When I came to Boies, I didn't fully appreciate the impact their plaintiffs practice would have on many of my clients," Bernick said. "It was really my responsibility for not pursuing it in more detail. After a while, I started to think it was a problem that wasn't going to diminish soon."
