McNees Wallace & Nurick attorney Kandice Kerwin Hull succeeded Jim DeAngelo as chair of the litigation group, effective Jan. 1.

Within the litigation group, Hull also leads the eminent domain practice, as well as the appellate and post-trial practice group.

She is part of the pipeline and oil/gas infrastructure groups.

Hull focuses her practice on the representation of clients in complex commercial litigation in business disputes.

She has particular experience in real property litigation, including eminent domain matters and oil and gas-related real property disputes.

Hull handles both federal and state claims, and has represented clients in cases involving breach of contract claims, quiet title actions and land use disputes, among others.

She previously served as a law clerk to Judge Thomas G. Saylor, now the chief justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Thomas, Thomas & Hafer promoted two attorneys as partners with the firm.

Marc Aoun has handled numerous complicated workers' compensation cases.

He has experience in representing employers, insurance carriers, self-insured's and third-party administrators in workers' compensation matters.

He also has experience in complex civil litigation and is involved in the defense of personal injury claims.

Thomas E. Zumpella—licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and West Virginia—concentrates his practice in the defense of general liability matters.

He is a former clerk of U.S. Magistrate Judge Francis X. Caiazza for the Western District of Pennsylvania and also a former legal extern of Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge R. Stanton Wettick.

Additions

Barley Snyder hired EmmaRose Boyle as its newest attorney.

Boyle will work primarily out of the firm's Reading office in its business, personal planning and food and agribusiness groups.

She is a former extern who worked with Barley Snyder during the spring 2017 semester while working on her degree from Vermont Law School, where she graduated in two years through the school's accelerated Juris Doctor program.

Sarah A. Eastburn is scheduled to serve as a faculty member at a Pennsylvania Bar Institute seminar in Philadelphia on Thursday.

The seminar is titled, “Estate Planning for Younger Clients” and Eastburn will discuss various issues that young couples and young families should consider when planning for the future, including: naming executors and trustees, choosing a guardian, establishing trusts for young children, providing instructions for distribution of assets and intestacy.

Eastburn practices in the areas of wills, trusts and estates, litigation and taxation at Eastburn and Gray.

High Swartz partner Thomas E. Panzer presented at the Bucks County Bar Association's December Marathon Day on Dec. 20, 2017.

Panzer presented “Interplay Between Workers' Compensation and Heart and Lung Claims” along with Glenn C. Neiman of Brilliant & Neiman and Ryan J. Cassidy of Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott.
