Faculty at the 47,000-student University of North Texas say they’re frustrated with the school’s Office of General Counsel for asserting that going ahead with next month’s Pride Week activities would violate the state’s new anti-diversity, equity and inclusion law.

Based on the office’s guidance, the university has pulled the plug on the activities, which have been hosted annually by the university’s library system. The decision drew sharp criticism during the Feb. 14 meeting of the Faculty Senate, with one member even raising the idea of holding a no-confidence vote on the OGC, according to the North Texas Daily student newspaper.
