Jurors in Waco, Texas, returned a $20 million jury verdict Thursday for EcoFactor Inc. in its battle with Google LLC over smart thermostats.

Jurors found that Google infringed an EcoFactor patent that describes using a network of thermostats to predict the future rate of change in temperature inside a structure. A second patent was found not infringed. The jury rejected Google’s validity and eligibility challenges to each patent.
