Pledging to work on gender parity, 67 law offices in Houston have signed the Houston Bar Association’s 2021 Gender Fairness Commitment Statement, marking only the second revision of a statement originally drafted in 2006.

Pointing to a “persistent lack of gender diversity” in firms, legal departments, the judiciary and elsewhere, the revised statement broadens gender parity to include gender diverse groups, expands parameters to promote diversity at all stages, and also includes language to make the statement more applicable to a broader variety of legal employers.
