Prosecutors in the trial of a former top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo recommended prison time that would “meaningfully exceed” five years to set a precedent for future federal corruption convictions.

In a sentencing memo filed late Wednesday, prosecutors urged U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni of the Southern District of New York to deliver a heavy sentence to Joseph Percoco to “send a strong message to those who might consider following in this disgraceful tradition.”
