Ruling Restores Home To 'Duped' Scam Victims

Calling the case before her "a most egregious example" of a type of fraud perpetrated upon homeowners at risk of losing their homes, a Supreme Court justice in Brooklyn has voided a deed and restored a home to a 76-year-old woman and her adult son. Justice Carolyn E. Demarest found that several persons and entities had "duped" the two by making false representations as to a deal which appeared to allow them to regain ownership of their house but which, in fact, was "designed to permanently obtain title to [the] home at no cost to the defendants."
