Michael Phillips, a partner at New Orleans' Frilot Partridge, says the days of courtrooms stacked high with three-ring binders are gone. Technology can handle the data necessary to present during complex litigation, but some lawyers hesitate to use the tools, saying "they are too expensive" or "my case is not big enough." Partridge notes there are up-front costs in purchasing software, training users and making sure data is properly coded, but the costs are recovered many times over during litigation.
