Associates Survey 2008

Smaller firms often outscore larger ones on our annual survey of midlevel job satisfaction. It may be because a more intimate atmosphere breeds happiness. Maybe it's because associates have more responsibility. Perhaps it's because they have a better chance of making partner. In these charts, firms are grouped roughly according to size. In the first category are firms whose annual gross revenues are too low to qualify for the Am Law 200. These are the smallest firms that took part in our survey. In the second category are Am Law Second Hundred firms?numbers 101-200 on the most recent Am Law 200 survey (July.) In the final category are firms that appear on our most recent Am Law 100 (May) or Global 100 (October 2007) survey. For a full methodology, click here.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney and a former firm partner have responded to the malpractice suit filed by the name partners of Alcalde & Fay in July. The case marks the second time Buchanan Ingersoll has been sued in the past three years as a result of ESOP-related work by Diamond.

Abercrombie Agrees to Settle Discrimination Suits for Nearly $50 Million

Abercrombie & Fitch has agreed to settle a trio of employment discrimination suits for nearly $50 million, the firm disclosed Tuesday in SEC filings. Employment lawyers say the settlement is significant not so much for its size as for the precedent it sets for plaintiffs making unconventional claims. "It's the new face of discrimination," said attorney Brad Seligman, who noted that the litigation looked at the retailer's entire branding practice.
