In a deal valued at about $1.8 billion, Houston`s Shell Oil Company, a wholly owned unit of the Hague-based Royal Dutch/Shell Group, announced on Monday that it had agreed to acquire fellow industry giant Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, also of Houston.
