Non-Competes Stricken for In-House Counsel

While New Jersey's in-house attorneys may seek to enforce non-competition clauses imposed by their companies, they don't have to worry about such covenants in their own employment contracts. Fourteen years after the state Supreme Court told law firms they could not limit defecting partners' practices, its ethics committee has extended the doctrine to in-house lawyers.
