Sometimes law firms have to have bad years before they have good. At Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington, 2015 finally brought the latter. "We set a plan and it's working," said Phil West, after his second year as firm chairman. In fiscal year 2015, the firm grew its gross revenue by $5 million to $357.5 million, a 1.4 percent increase, the firm reported to the American Lawyer this month.
