Lynch Tapped for EDNY US Attorney

Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Loretta E. Lynch was recommended yesterday to be the successor to Eastern District U.S. Attorney Zachary Carter. Lynch, 40, is expected to be named interim U.S. Attorney by the Department of Justice on Friday, when Carter will leave the office for private practice. She will remain in the interim position pending her formal nomination by President Clinton and her confirmation by the U.S. Senate.

Pepperidge Farm Wins Goldfish War

In the case of goldfish-shaped, cheddar cheese crackers, Pepperidge Farm won another victory earlier this week in its war with Nabisco over which of the giant baking companies has the right to market the snack. The victory came Monday when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit sustained a lower court ruling that Pepperidge Farm was entitled to an injunction under the federal Trademark Dilution Act.
