Freshfields named official firm for 2012 London Olympics
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has landed a trophy role as the official law firm for the 2012 London Olympics. The firm won the role after a bidding process carried out toward the end of last year by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The deal with LOCOG, for which Freshfields has paid a small cash amount, sees the firm added as the official legal services provider for the games.Smiths Group Legal Chief Lillycrop Steps Down
U.K. technology giant Smiths Group has parted company with general counsel and company secretary David Lillycrop. Lillycrop, who was also a director with the group, left the post after a restructuring meant the general counsel position no longer carried a seat on the company's board. Lillycrop had held the role since Smiths merged with TI Group in December 2000.
