Marshall Petitioners Seek High Court Help

More than 170 supporters of Georgia's John Marshall Law School -- including Atlanta Mayor Bill Campbell and Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) -- are trying to save the school from closing in two years. In an effort to help the school obtain ABA accreditation, the group is asking the Georgia Supreme Court to extend the Aug. 31, 2001, deadline by which the school's students have to graduate if they want to take the Georgia bar exam. If granted, it would be John Marshall's third such extension.

Disabled Guests Sue Disney World for Its Ban on Segways

Three disabled people have sued Walt Disney World for not allowing them to use their Segways to move around its theme parks. The plaintiffs are each able to stand but cannot walk far, and they have been denied permission to use their two-wheel vehicles at Disney World, according to the federal court lawsuit. The suit filed Friday says they're among an estimated 4,000 to 7,000 similarly disabled people who have turned to Segways as mobility tools.

FDA Chief Counsel Joins Hunton & Williams

If a firm is looking to expand its food and drug practice, it can hardly do better than snagging the chief counsel of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, which is exactly what Hunton & Williams has done. Sheldon Bradshaw, the FDA's chief counsel, will join the firm's Washington office as a partner and co-chair of its food and drug practice in October. Bradshaw joins the recent exodus of high-ranking Bush administration officials as that administration approaches its final year.
