CJP Charges Judge in Yuba for Meddling With Tickets

Judge David Wasilenko, a longtime Yuba County judge, was formally charged Monday with violating judicial ethics by allegedly interfering with traffic citations that had been issued to family members and friends. According to charges filed by the Commission on Judicial Performance, Wasilenko committed numerous violations of the Code of Judicial Ethics between 1999 and 2002 by intervening in pending tickets issued to eight different people.

James Murphy said late Wednesday that Superior Court Judge Joseph O'Flaherty was only trying to ensure that minority defendants were treated fairly. He also accused Sacramento's Third District Court of Appeal of unjustly ripping O'Flaherty for something he rectified long ago.

Hyde Denies CJP Charges of Impropriety

Alameda County Judge D. Ronald Hyde did not use his position to help his daughter and his friends in court, according to papers his attorney filed with the Commission on Judicial Performance. In June, the state watchdog agency wrote that the judge brought "the judicial office into disrepute" by abusing his post. Besides helping his daughter, the six-count "notice of formal proceedings" alleged that Hyde made a sexual comment off the bench to court employees.
