SACRAMENTO — California’s judicial watchdog has publicly admonished a Merced County Superior Court judge for filing false salary affidavits indicating he had no pending cases more than 90 days old.

Judge John Kirihara, an 11-year veteran of the Merced bench, signed 11 affidavits between May 2010 and March 2011 declaring he was up-to-date on his work when in fact he had three cases under submission for more than 90 days, the Commission on Judicial Performance said Wednesday.
