Plaque of Ten Commandments May Stay on Courthouse Wall

A bronze plaque of the Ten Commandments, mounted 83 years ago, may remain on a wall of the courthouse in Chester County, Pa., the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday. Finding that modern-day county officials who refused to take down the plaque acted only out of respect for its historic importance, the court concluded that a "reasonable" person who sees the plaque today would not read it as an "endorsement of religion."
