Paulette Brown, a labor and employment law partner and chief diversity officer with the Morristown, N.J., office of Edwards Wildman Palmer, was elected president-elect of the American Bar Association at the conclusion of the ABA annual meeting held Aug. 12 in Boston. She will serve a one-year term as president-elect before becoming ABA president in August 2015…David Calviello, a chief assistant prosecutor with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and immediate-past president of the Seton Hall Law School Alumni Council, received the 2014 Alumni Award for Service to the law school from Seton Hall University at the annual Many Are One awards gala held June 13 at the Hanover Marriott in Whippany…Bruce Stern, a partner in the accident and personal injury group at Stark & Stark in Princeton, is elected parliamentarian of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). He was installed at the AAJ’s annual convention in Baltimore on July 28. Stern concentrates his practice in the area of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries and wrongful death…Christine Vanek, a partner at Scarinci Hollenbeck in Lyndhurst, is appointed a judge of the Superior Court of Hudson County. The ceremonial administration of the oath of office occurred on July 25 at the Brennan Courthouse in Jersey City. Vanek has worked for Scarinci Hollenbeck since 2000 and has been a member of the State of New Jersey Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission since 2004.
