New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed legislation that restricts prospective employers’ inquiries into job applicants’ criminal histories.
The legislation, A-1999, known as the Opportunity to Compete Act or “ban-the-box” bill, generally bars such questions in initial applications or interviews.
