The state Supreme Court heard arguments Tuesday on whether Perth Amboy’s chief municipal court judge can keep his job, now that his son is a police officer in the township.

The court’s Advisory Committee on Extrajudicial Activities has said George Boyd must forfeit his seat, even though he raised the potential conflict when his son Ethan joined the police force in July 2010 and Middlesex County Assignment Judge Travis Francis directed that all cases involving the son be transferred out of the township.
