A company that buys plaintiffs’ rights to expected recoveries in civil suits is suing two law firms for a client that left it holding the bag.
The suit, RD Legal Funding Partners v. Hagner, 12-cv-6503, filed Monday in federal court in Newark, alleges the law firms negligently paid a plaintiff $420,966 in settlement funds although he had assigned the proceeds of his litigation to the company.
