A federal judge in Newark on Monday allowed a suit to proceed against Chicago’s Winston & Strawn and a former New Jersey partner who allegedly helped steal $2 million from clients.

Jonathan Bristol pleaded guilty on May 2 to charges arising out of his role in a multimillion-dollar fraud committed by Kenneth Starr, the so-called accountant to the stars, who also pleaded guilty. Bristol admitted he allowed Starr to wire funds in and out of his attorney escrow account knowing that the monies were proceeds of Starr’s scheme.
