Shortly after 5 a.m., plaintiff Odis E. Murray heard gun shots. He saw a man lying in the street. He went out and found his second son, Odis P. Murray, bleeding profusely from his chest. Plaintiff Geraldine Murray called 9-1-1. A Plainfield police officer arrived at 5:14 a.m. The Plainfield Rescue Squad ambulance, staffed by three EMTs, was dispatched at 5:15 a.m., arriving at approximately 5:17 a.m. A call was also made for a mobile intensive-care unit from John F. Kennedy Medical Center, staffed by paramedics. Mercy 9 was dispatched.
