Before the Assembly Budget Committee Monday, acting Administrative Director of the New Jersey Courts Glenn A. Grant expressed appreciation for a reduction in the number of judicial vacancies and discussed the judiciary’s strategic plan to combat a backlog which has more than doubled since 2019.

Grant appeared before the committee alongside assignment judges Michael Toto ofMiddlesex County; Sheila Venable of Essex County; Michael Blee of Atlantic and Cape May counties; Robert Lougy of Mercer County; and Kevin Shanahan of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren counties. Also appearing were Todd McManus, who oversees financial operations for the judiciary, and Chief Information Officer Laks Kattalai.
