The prognosis appears uncertain for Adeel A. Mangi as intense opposition from Republicans threatens to derail his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
The White House reiterated its support for Mangi’s nomination after CNN reported that Democratic senators and their staff are privately expressing concern about whether he has enough votes in the U.S. Senate to be confirmed. His nomination appears vulnerable after he was targeted by Republicans in the Senate, who have accused him of antisemitism and asked if he celebrates on 9/11.
