In addition to unanimously approving the nomination of Michael Noriega to the New Jersey Supreme Court, the Senate Judiciary Committee approved three nominees to the Superior Court, including a member of Gov. Phil Murphy’s cabinet.

Marlene Caride, the Banking and Insurance Commissioner for the Murphy administration, was unanimously approved by the committee to succeed Judge Bernadette N. DeCastro in Hudson County. The Vicinage 6 vacancy was due to DeCastro reaching the mandatory judicial retirement age of 70 in 2022.
