A 2020 New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development audit spanning the years 2017 through 2020 revealed over 30,000 alleged violations of child labor laws at Chipotle Mexican Grill locations across the state.

The settlement, announced jointly by NJDOL Commissioner Robert Asaro-Angelo and acting Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin, provided that the restaurant chain will pay $7.75 million and adhere to a compliance plan for the 85 stores located in New Jersey.
