A motorist who suffered spinal injuries in a collision with a state-owned vehicle agreed to a $5 million settlement in his Salem County suit, Simmons v. State of New Jersey, on Oct. 25.

Anthony Simmons was driving on Route 40 at the entrance to the New Jersey Turnpike in Carneys Point on March 29, 2017, when a New Jersey Department of Corrections employee, James Lawson, disregarded a stop sign and collided with Simmons’ vehicle.
