A pedestrian who suffered a traumatic brain injury after he was struck by a New Jersey Transit bus has accepted $2 million to settle his Essex County suit, Anthony v. New Jersey Transit Corp. The settlement was paid on Oct. 4.

Kiliek Anthony was walking across Chancellor Avenue in Irvington on Dec. 1, 2015, when he was struck by a New Jersey Transit bus. Anthony, then 25, was thrown about 15 feet and suffered injuries to his head, face, neck and back. Anthony was diagnosed with bleeding from the brain, could not speak for several days and suffered from amnesia. Eight months after the accident, a test showed he had atrophied brain tissue, according to his lawyer, Beth Baldinger of Mazie, Slater, Katz & Freeman in Roseland.
