The New Jersey State Bar Association has rebuked New Jersey’s virtual grand jury program, calling it a denial of defendants’ right to a secret and deliberative body of jurors, and suggesting that unequal access to technology will result in juries that are not a cross section of the community.

The opposition of the NJSBA, the largest professional organization for lawyers in New Jersey, seems like it would be difficult for the justices to ignore when they decide whether the program should be allowed to continue.
