The deal values Newsday at $632 million; Tribune also will receive $18 million at closing in prepaid rent for properties used in the business. Also, Hewlett-Packard Co. has agreed to buy Electronic Data Systems Corp. for $13.9 billion, a move that will more than double its technology services business.

Also, CMP Holdings LLC will pay $1.4 billion for the coated and supercalendered papers unit of the International Paper Co., and FleetPride Corporation, a distributor of heavy-duty truck and trailer parts, was acquired for $506 million by the global investment group Investcorp and Banc of America Capital Investors.
