BAY SHORE – Siben & Siben, which describes itself as Suffolk County’s largest personal injury firm, has laid off one of its top trial lawyers, Richard D. Schwartzer, and nine other employees in a downsizing the firm said was necessitated not only by the drooping economy but also by the increased expense of trying and winning personal injury cases.

The Bay Shore firm is believed to be the first in Suffolk to have reacted to the current economic climate by laying off attorneys, but personal injury attorneys on both sides report whisperings of downsizings and certainly more than a few consolidations on Long Island.
