Simpson Thacher, Gibson Dunn Counsel Heinz Deal with Del Monte
In a deal valued at about .4 billion, Pittsburgh, Pa.-based H.J. Heinz Company, which bills itself as the world`s largest ketchup maker, announced last week an agreement to transfer control of several of its food products to a subsidiary that will merge with San Francisco`s Del Monte Foods Company. Among the products to be transferred to the new company, which will operate under the Del Monte name, are Heinz`s StarKist tuna, 9-Lives cat food, Kibbles `n Bits dog food and Nature`s Goodness baby food.
