ALBANY – The Judiciary today will unveil its latest initiative to merge most of New York’s 11 separate trial courts and re-invent a court structure designed in horse-and-buggy days.

Chief Administrative Judge Jonathan Lippman will appear at a press conference this afternoon with the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to tout the newest version of court restructuring. The actual bill, which will be presented today, seeks to build on prior efforts by adding a constitutional provision extending jurisdiction in domestic violence cases and institutionalizing Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye’s one family/one judge approach.
