The gist of Jacobson’s complaint in Jacobson v. Kings County Democratic County Committee, 16-cv-4809 is that powerful interests within the Brooklyn Democratic Party manipulated the party’s screening process to disqualify her for renomination for a second term. Under party rules, no candidate can be nominated for a judgeship unless they have secured a qualified rating from the party’s 25-member screening panel.
