Deputy U.S. Attorney General Sally Quillian Yates, left, sits next to Eastern District U.S. Attorney Robert Capers as they observe participants in the district’s Special Operations Services (SOS) program, which targets juveniles and young adult offenders between the ages of 18 and 25.

The participants met Thursday with Magistrate Judge Joan Azrack to update her on their efforts to find and maintain employment and achieve educational goals. SOS was formed in 2000 but underwent a structural change in 2013 to bring it to its current format, in which two magistrate judges meet with program participants regularly.
